Why It Works

The secret to this revolutionary system is complete control without the fear of falling.

A lot of things go through children's minds when it comes time to learn to ride; excitement, fear, apprehension, anticipation to name a few. The E-ZBar addresses all of these factors and many more. Learning to ride a bike covers all aspects of the learning process. Trial and error being the one we are most familiar with. This is were the E-ZBar excels.

The primary difficulty with learning to ride a bike is that the child is expected to master 2 skills at the same time: Balance and Propulsion. The very act of pedaling puts the child's balance out of whack, sometimes leading to frustration for the child. The E-ZBar's unique control gives the parent the ability work with each step individually. The answer is then relatively simple, allow your kid to learn Balance first, before adding Propulsion to the equation once the former is mastered, move to the next step. An expanded discussion on the learning process can be found on The International Bicycle Fund.

But, before you begin the real training, the following preparation is essential:

  • Make sure the bike is properly fit to the child. They should just be able to stand over the top bar of the frame without touching.
  • Wear a helmet that fits properly. When first starting, knee and elbow pads, as well as gloves are a good idea.
  • Be sure they wear clothing that is protective and not so loose that it will get caught up in the bike. Blue jeans and sweatshirt are recommended.
  • Discuss road and bike safety with your child. Explain the importance of biking in safe areas, as well as rules of the road.
  • Find a safe place to start the instruction. A hard packed grass field is ideal, but asphalt tennis or basketball courts will work as well. Cul-de-sac streets can be an answer also, you are looking for no traffic areas.

  •

Now the E-ZBar and you can work on your child's riding skills. Let's look at some of the unique features of the system. The E-ZBar is made from light weight material and can be easily controlled by adults of all sizes. Make sure you familiarize yourself with the function of the bar before instructing your child.

The hitch to the left is easily installed underneath the seat and fits most bicycle seat posts. It's unique swiveling design gives the child the freedom to learn balance without the loss of control.

The E-ZBar attaches and releases to the hitch with a simple squeeze of the release handle as seen to the right. This control feature allows the parent to release the child when the child has shown the ability to master all the skills to ride! The smoothness of the release also gives no indication of the release, so the child is not aware that they are riding on their own, eliminating the anticipation of being released.

The bar's complete control is demonstrated by small leans to the left and right. The child can now concentrate on learning not falling.

The E-ZBar system builds the child's confidence quickly and safely, making learning fun not frustrating.

These benefits added to the parents instructions is what gives you the edge in making this wonderful time something your child will remember with joy!
